Humbly
asked Him to remove all our shortcomings.
"Humble yourselves
before the Lord, and He will lift you up." (James 4:10)
|
|
The
seventh step is important in that it signifies our readiness to
change our patterns of behavior and approach life with a fresh
vision. We no longer hang on to our character defects as we would the
old "comfortable" shirt. We realize there is a better way
to live life. Be ready to make new constructive behaviors to live
more positively, our thinking process begin a new transformation. We
have become willing, and now we are ready to move forward. Through
the previous six steps we have come to believe that we mismanaged our
lives and did not live to the fullest as we were self-destructive,
blaming, and hostile to change. We have now reached the midpoint of
the 12 steps and are on the threshold of a new way of living.
"By
the time I got the seventh step, believe you me, I was ready to have
my shortcomings removed. I was tired of being tired, worn out of the
struggles I put myself through. Always having to justify my behavior,
always having to be right, always wanting to prove something, make
people notice me. It was such a relief to not have to be right all
the time, and to know that it was okay to be a human being, OK to
acknowledge I was not any better or perfect." Kurt G.
The
imperfections of our past and present no longer have to tear us down.
As we take hold of steps the direction that is shown to us, we will
flourish, and gain the necessary knowledge to ascend above the
blunders that haunted us in the past. In order for Step 7 to reap its
many rewards, it will be essential for us to do our part in the
positive change development. Our Higher Power will fill us with
positive motivation to continuously move forward in our recovery. We
should courageously take a step determinedly forward, devoid of
reservation or distrust, and follow in the direction that is shown to
us. We learn to utilize the many Spiritual Principles accessible to
us as we transform and merge into the beings we were destined to be.
Positive change will be noticeable while undertaking Step 7, and you
will be guided and shown the way to the freedom that serenity
produces. As we rely and entrust our will to God, the restrictions
and limitations that we possess will dissipate into oblivion. We will
become proficient in replacing our shortcomings with Spiritual
remedies, such as faith, acceptance, courage, vigilance, and staying
power. While we preserve an unwavering and strong faith that our
Higher Power will deliver us from the inadequacies of our past, we
become filled with a new found strength of character. We strive for
greatness on our path, and we refuse to permit trepidation or
weakness to restrain our personal growth, and spiritual advancement.
Remember we are always here you can call upon us any time....

Hope you like these common "Prayers," I know they
have made huge changes in my life as helped me to keep God focused. This site, These are just sections from papers over the
years, I have been doing this since 1985 when I was the Spiritual Advisor for a center and the development director
for another over the years. I learned that recovery can take on a great number of faces for different people. Although,
one thing I have always believed is Faith Based Recovery has an indwelling success rate unlike any other form. However, I
talk to people all over the world and meet people who's belief system in not as mine, we do not judge people, we do not categorize people
in little groups, what is important is your recovery regardless of your sex, religion, or national origin. Sure it would be
nice to know that everyone was in a personal relationship with The God our Savior Creator and Salvation, this site is meant
to help you establish, (If you have not done so already), and or keep a strong recovery life daily. A tool. I have been greatly blessed, in that, God has opened doors in other countries
around the world for us. Many of you know already, for those that do not, I have a disc & Nerve disease, it is real hard
for me just to be able to do what normal people do everyday, I say this to say that, it may take me some time but I usually
get around to getting things done. I do write for more than one on-line site, if you don't see activity here does not mean
that I will not get around to posting papers, there are time when I get stuck in bed for periods. This site is meant for you... You matter, don't let anyone ever lead you
to believe differently. God made you unlike anyone else, even though we kind-of look similar to others, there are
very many great things about us God made just for us / in us.. Remember that! And Live accordingly. :) :)
