Made
a list of all persons we had harmed and became willing to make amends
to them all.
"Therefore, if you are offering your gift at the
altar and there remember that your brother has something against you,
leave your gift there in front of the altar. First go and be
reconciled to your brother; then come and offer your gift." (Matthew 5:23, 24**)

Step Eight begins the process
of "clearing the wreckage of the past." Why, if we are so willing to change our behavior, do we have to go back and make amends
to people we have harmed? Many people feel this is the ultimate step in giving up our past way of living. By making amends
to people we have harmed without passing blame or judgment on them. We are fully embracing our responsibility for the messes
we've created, we realize that while people in our lives may indeed not have treated us well either, that is not our problem.
Our problem is how WE have treated other people.
Again you can see how
there is first a step of reflection and preparation before an action step. This gives us the opportunity to honestly appraise
our behavior, who it may have impacted, and how we intend to make amends to them. So I wrote down a list
of all, not just the one's who I thought would be easy to approach, not just the one's I knew wouldn't be real angry at me,
but all.
To the best of my ability I wrote my list and I also
wrote why I should make amends to them. every person that I resented, every person who I had harmed, I have never sexually
abused anyone. It was strange. The man who raped me when I was a boy kept coming into my mind. I realized that if I wanted
people to forgive me, then I had to forgive him. What did Jesus say?, “Let he who has not sinned, cast the first stone”,
not “Let he who has not committed the same sin as him, cast the first stone”. A sin is
a sin. I am no better than anyone else, forgiveness sets people free, arrogance, pride, and resentment destroys.
Recovery is the process of rebuilding all the things that we had lost in our
active addiction. We started the 12 Steps of the 12 Step program totally focused and unwavering to do what was necessary to
positively progress in our recovery. We in actuality needed time to work on ourselves, to remodel our moral makeup, to strengthen
our character, and to eliminate the chaotic behaviors of our active addiction. We followed the suggestions of the program,
we honestly, and thoroughly had undergone the revitalizing course of action. At this juncture in our recovery, while completing
the first 7 Steps of the program, it is suggested that we make this list, and obtain the required willingness to complete
Step 9. In this Step, we are in preparation of the amends that is soon to follow.
While making
the list of all the people that we've wronged, we ought to make sure to utterly reflect on our lives to ensure a detailed
list. A quiet and peaceful surrounding, with a lucid frame of mind will aid us to more easily complete our list. Keep reviewing
the list to make sure that everyone is listed. Once that process is complete, it is now time to evaluate our thoughts on each
individual, and then, I would advise that we write down next to their name all the things that need to be recalled and admitted.
A list of all the wrongs to each person will help us get geared up to make the direct amends. We need to acquire the tools
necessary to humbly admit our faults, and see what can be done to restore the relationship, if sought-after. We review all
of our dealings with each person and prepare ourselves to make amends, which is the next Step. Remember
we are always here you can call upon us any time....

Hope you like these common "Prayers," I know they
have made huge changes in my life as helped me to keep God focused. This site, These are just sections from papers over the
years, I have been doing this since 1985 when I was the Spiritual Advisor for a center and the development director
for another over the years. I learned that recovery can take on a great number of faces for different people. Although,
one thing I have always believed is Faith Based Recovery has an indwelling success rate unlike any other form. However, I
talk to people all over the world and meet people who's belief system in not as mine, we do not judge people, we do not categorize people
in little groups, what is important is your recovery regardless of your sex, religion, or national origin. Sure it would be
nice to know that everyone was in a personal relationship with The God our Savior Creator and Salvation, this site is meant
to help you establish, (If you have not done so already), and or keep a strong recovery life daily. A tool. I have been greatly blessed, in that, God has opened doors in other countries
around the world for us. Many of you know already, for those that do not, I have a disc & Nerve disease, it is real hard
for me just to be able to do what normal people do everyday, I say this to say that, it may take me some time but I usually
get around to getting things done. I do write for more than one on-line site, if you don't see activity here does not mean
that I will not get around to posting papers, there are time when I get stuck in bed for periods. This site is meant for you... You matter, don't let anyone ever lead you
to believe differently. God made you unlike anyone else, even though we kind-of look similar to others, there are
very many great things about us God made just for us / in us.. Remember that! And Live accordingly. :) :)
