We must be willing to make a mends to all the people that we have harmed, whereas it does not hurt them or ourselves. It is an element to the 12-step program that we make amends, this can be a great asset to our recovery. In that, we must also face the fact that some of us will not either be able to make a amends to all the people we harmed of our past or maybe even reach all those we have hurt in one way or another. Setting things right, even if it just results in our saying we are sorry sincerely and honestly, is a great asset to our recovery plan. I have sponsored people over the years, in that, I have suggested if one cannot make amends they do something for a person or family, out of the blue, some suggestions a friend found a family that’s refrigerator had gone out and they could not afford another, he bought them a refrigerator and explained why he had purchased them the gift and hopped they would receive it in kind. When they did it made a huge difference in his life and theirs. If you cannot afford a new product there are plenty of real good used models out there if you look around for the best one. Another bought a washer, dryer, air cooling unit, food for the month etc…  My point, is this, the step is more about you then anything else, your taking responsibility for your actions ergo it is an essential part of your new inner growth, that you take steps in the direction of making your future the best it can be. I have counseled men who have gone to make mends with creditors or people they had owed great amounts of money, some that they had even stole from and found the creditor, erased the dept or placed payment at a few dollars a month till the out-standing debt was paid in full. Again my point, that we make an effort to do the right thing, it will make a huge difference in our lives. Ignoring this step can have its affects just as completing it can do the same.
                       What does the Bible say about restitution?

The Grace of God distinguishes disharmony, it turns confusion, and disorder into order you can have faith that God will not give you more than you are able to handle. Human difficulties can be magnified when communication breaks down, with this step we are honestly and sincerity addressing our wrongs. And when the making a amends can be unpredictable, (Our it will be received.),  it is important we try. We just have to be willing to submit to the will of God in our lives to do what is right.
