Sought
through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with
GOD as we understood Him, praying only for knowledge of His will, and
the power to carry that out.
"May the words of my mouth and the
meditation of my heart be pleasing in your sight, O Lord, my Rock and
my Redeemer." (Psalm 19:14)
"Let
the word of Christ dwell in you richly..." (Col. 3:16)

The
11th step allows us to commit to the 3rd step on a daily basis.
Remember that God is one that you understand. It can be whatever God
works for you personally. Many recovering alcoholics and addicts find
meditation is a welcome relief from stress and tension in their daily
lives. It allows us to reach a natural calm that we once tried to
reach by drinking or using drugs unsuccessfully.
Prayer
keeps us in touch with the guidance of our higher power, whatever
this higher power may be to us. If you speak to 100 recovering
people, you may find you hear as many as 100 versions of what God is.
"I
grew up with a traditional concept of a Christian God, and that is
still comfortable for me. It felt like I was putting on a pair of old
gloves. I'd been away so long, and now I was home." John G.
In
step 3, we decided to look for a new manager, because we were
unhappy, addicted, obsessive etc. We thought, “Well, I tried
everything my way, and the result was pain! So, that is where I
suppose, humility starts to come into our lives. Whether you believe
in a Christian God, or a Higher power, then this step will work. If
your mind is full of neurotic thoughts then they have to be replaced
with a belief system, a different attitude. I love the serenity
prayer.
&
The
St. Francis Prayer.
I
state acceptance, what is acceptance but a way of stopping anger?
Remember acceptance does not mean you agree, it means you stop the
thoughts in your head Your God wants you to be happy right now. The
present is a result of the past, and the future will be a result of
the present.
Conscious
contact means being aware, mindful, and awake to align ourselves with
God, as we understand Him. We gain all-knowing knowledge and
perception of the way to truth - our destined path to success,
happiness, and peace of mind. To have conscious contact with God is
to be alert with our inner essence. We gain awareness and
attentiveness to our chosen path to freedom. We gain the familiarity
and knowledge to live in accordance with God's will for our lives.
When we become aware of the Light of God's love through prayer and
meditation, we become at peace with ourselves, our life's direction,
and of our new-found life within. To experience conscious contact
brings with it a great amount of healing elements that will give us
the serenity that we seek. Our life's path becomes a positive,
insightful, and joyous adventure.
Our
Higher Power resides within, but we acquire the knowledge of His will
from our inner being, and from without. Deep within us we find the
serenity that we once thought was impossible to achieve. Our Higher
Power has been with us from the start. He has been guiding us thus
far through the Steps, and now our Higher Power desires for us to
strengthen the conscious contact necessary to continue growing in our
recovery, among many other things.

Hope you like these common "Prayers," I know they
have made huge changes in my life as helped me to keep God focused. This site, These are just sections from papers over the
years, I have been doing this since 1985 when I was the Spiritual Advisor for a center and the development director
for another over the years. I learned that recovery can take on a great number of faces for different people. Although,
one thing I have always believed is Faith Based Recovery has an indwelling success rate unlike any other form. However, I
talk to people all over the world and meet people who's belief system in not as mine, we do not judge people, we do not categorize people
in little groups, what is important is your recovery regardless of your sex, religion, or national origin. Sure it would be
nice to know that everyone was in a personal relationship with The God our Savior Creator and Salvation, this site is meant
to help you establish, (If you have not done so already), and or keep a strong recovery life daily. A tool. I have been greatly blessed, in that, God has opened doors in other countries
around the world for us. Many of you know already, for those that do not, I have a disc & Nerve disease, it is real hard
for me just to be able to do what normal people do everyday, I say this to say that, it may take me some time but I usually
get around to getting things done. I do write for more than one on-line site, if you don't see activity here does not mean
that I will not get around to posting papers, there are time when I get stuck in bed for periods. This site is meant for you... You matter, don't let anyone ever lead you
to believe differently. God made you unlike anyone else, even though we kind-of look similar to others, there are
very many great things about us God made just for us / in us.. Remember that! And Live accordingly. :) :)
